Spirit, owner and operator of Funky Strandz Salon, has made it her lifelong goal to make sure every client or stylist who experiences her business feels like the exceptional individual that they truly are! A graduate of Pivot Point Academy, Spirit’s career spans more than two decades servicing clients throughout the Chicago and southern suburban areas, specializing in precision cuts and custom color services. She is the proud owner of her upscale salon and leads her team of stylists and artists from her passion to model the practical aspect of salon grace and quality chair-side manner, while also being sure to continue their focus on the theoretical knowledge of the cosmetology field – a component of the business she feels has been forgotten and hopes to continue to pursue. Recently Spirit expanded her fashion and business acumen by launching Attention 2 Detail (A2D), a clothing & accessories company featuring on-trend and classic pieces to compliment every appearance. You can not only find Spirit leading her businesses daily, but you will also find her finger on the pulse of philanthropy through Funky Strandz’s monthly contributions to a variety of organizations that are close to her heart as well as her annual “Celebration of Women”: an opportunity for Funky Strandz to showcase and support Black businesses while also showing Spirit’s gratitude for her clients and staff.
